San Antonio, Texas., July 23, 2002 — Aechelon Technology, Inc. announced today the immediate availability of pC-NOVATM image generators, based on commodity PC components and the Windows operating system. pC-NOVA image generators are on display at SIGGRAPH 2002 in the booths of various manufacturers. The pC-NOVA visual simulation software uses the existing C-NOVATM ICD and databases, and is compatible with Aechelon Technology’s C-RADIANTTM sensor rendering plug-in, which provides real-time physics-based NVG, FLIR, and radar simulations. Soon to be added to this list of sensor simulations are Litening Pod II and AT-FLIR.
C-NOVA is the field-proven image generation software delivered by Aechelon Technology on SGI’ Onyx InfiniteRealityTM platforms over the last four years. The company has recently ported C-NOVA to the SGI Onyx InfiniteReality4TM system and added support for Image-Based Rendering (IBR), a new high-end capability on the Onyx InfiniteReality4. This new version of C-NOVA with IBR is currently being demonstrated at the SGI booth, SIGGRAPH 2002.
pC-NOVA transforms commodity platforms into rock-solid 60Hz frame rate, high-resolution, multi-channel image generators. The benefit to customers and system integrators is that application performance is dependent primarily on the accelerating performance curve of commodity parts, and does not rely on custom parts with the associated long lead times and risk factors. Moreover, features and functionality are not locked into program requirements, but are driven by market requirements, thereby creating continuous technology insertion at no additional development cost to the program. pC-NOVA was developed using Intrinsic Graphics’ Intrinsic AlchemyTM development environment and is portable across many platforms, including PCs, game consoles and set-top boxes.
Aechelon Technology delivers pC-NOVA image generators to DoD and DoD prime contractors as fully integrated systems that include all hardware, a spares complement, runtime, database, database generation system (to modify the delivered or create a new database), documentation, installation, one-year return-to-factory warranty, documentation and integration tools, including interface software for several standard host-side ICDs. Though typical integration times during installations at a major aerospace manufacturer, AFRL, Mesa, AZ and NAWC-AD Manned Flight Systems averaged under three hours, Aechelon Technology includes three days of on-site assistance at no additional cost with each installation.
“A major objective for this product offering is to eliminate the risk normally associated with the visual system integration and to reduce to a bare minimum the time from delivery to full integration with the host and display systems”, said John C. Quinn, president and CEO of Aechelon Technology.
Aechelon Technology announced earlier that JF Taylor, Inc., systems support contractor at Manned Flight Systems, NAWC-AD, after intensive evaluation purchased two 6-channel OTW image generators for use at Manned Flight Systems; these systems are scheduled for delivery in July 2002.
