San Francisco, Calif. — July 17, 2015. Aechelon Technology, Inc. announced today that The Boeing Company has awarded it a contract for the purchase of an Aechelon Nexus™ XL Unified Storage System (USS) to be used as a data center with P-8A Poseidon training devices for the Australian Department of Defence (ADOD). Boeing is Prime Contractor for the program.
The Aechelon Nexus™ Unified Storage System (USS) will enable a large number of P-8A Training Devices (OFT, WTT, PTT), Image Generators (IGs), and all P-8A Multi Mode Radar Simulation (MMRS) subsystems, to page database streams in real time, independently of each other, and from the same file system. Additionally the USS will support Aechelon Nexus™ Data Packs, designed to transfer very large format database updates.
Aechelon Technology currently supplies all multi-channel pC-NOVA™ Image Generators for the P-8A Operational Flight Trainers (OFT), multi-sensor Weapons Tactics Trainers (WTT), and multi-sensor Part Task Trainers (PTT), and provides global multi-spectral OTW/EO/IR/Radar and tactical environment databases, 3D moving models, and a variety of airfields for the P-8A training devices.
The P-8A is being developed for the U.S. Navy and ADOD by a Boeing-led industry team that consists of CFM International, Northrop Grumman, Raytheon, GE Aviation, BAE Systems and Spirit AeroSystems.
The P-8A, a derivative of the Next-Generation 737-800, is a long-range anti-submarine warfare, anti-surface warfare, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance aircraft capable of broad-area, maritime and littoral operations.
