South San Francisco, Calif. – April 29, 2024 — Aechelon Technology, Inc. announced today that it has been awarded a contract by Science Applications International Corp. (NASDAQ: SAIC) to provide twenty-one (21) pC-Nova Nucleus™ Image Generator systems with Mixed Reality, multi-projector dome support, and databases, in support of the T-45C Goshawk for the Chief of Naval Air Training (CNATRA) at NAS Kingsville, NAS Meridian, and NAS Pensacola.
The mission of the T-45C, a tandem-seat, carrier-capable jet trainer, is to train Navy and Marine Corps pilots and Naval Flight Officers. The T-45C aircraft is used for intermediate and advanced portions of the Navy/Marine Corps pilot training program for jet carrier aviation and tactical strike missions as well as the Advanced Tactical Maneuvering Stage of training for Naval Flight Officers. The T-45C is built around a digital “glass cockpit” design representative of the fleet aircraft that trained Naval Aviators and Flight Officers will occupy upon the completion of their training.
The Aechelon pC-Nova Nucleus MR Image Generator Systems will run the current T-45C multi-channel projector-based dome devices, as well as the Varjo XR-4 Mixed Reality Head Mounted Display, at 90 frames/second using unmodified databases. These mixed-reality systems allow aircrew operation in the augmented virtual-real cockpit and provide a Heads-Up Display (HUD) with symbology. The system features high-fidelity simulation using Aechelon’s multi-spectral visual Global Database, including 3D moving models, airfields, areas of interest, and routes used by CNATRA. The multi-spectral geospecific databases are correlated 1:1 and are also already being used on twenty-four (24) in-service TH-73A Aechelon Mixed Reality CNATRA trainers.
