San Francisco, Calif., — November 11, 2013, Aechelon Technology, Inc. announced today that Aero Simulation, Inc. (ASI), has awarded it a contract to provide new image generators and existing databases in use by the U.S. Marine Corps. The technology will be used on training devices for the AH-1W COBRA program in Camp Pendleton, CA., and New River, NC. ASI is the program’s Prime Contractor responsible for delivering the Weapons Systems Trainers (WST) and supporting subsystems.
Aechelon Technology will supply its new pC-NOVA™ v6.5 Image Generators for two Multi-Channel WSTs. Aechelon Technology will also provide high fidelity multi-spectral visual and sensor databases, 3D moving models, and a variety of airfields from its extensive library already being used on existing USMC and other DoD programs.
The AH-1W WSTs include separate domes for the pilot and co-pilot/gunner, each with their individual cockpit environments and controls.
The program requires replacement of the current image generator and databases, replacement of the display system projectors and refurbishment of the existing dome shell structures, host and instructor computer system replacements, upgrade to the existing Tactical Environment (TEn) system, replacement of the motion system control electronics hardware, refurbishment of the existing motion system transducers and servo valves, aural cue and communications systems tech refresh and several cockpit block upgrades.
