Aechelon Technology Announces Acceptance of Image Generator for MH-60S Knighthawk Tactical Operational Flight Trainer

SAN CARLOS, Calif., April 12, 2004 — Aechelon Technology, Inc. announced today the acceptance of the image generator for use in the MH-60S Knighthawk TOFT, to be located at NAS North Island, CA. The visual system subcontractor, J.F. Taylor, Inc., accepted the pC-NOVATM (v2.0) image generator on
completion of preliminary acceptance and integration tests at J.F. Taylor’s Lexington Park, MD facility. The image generator was subsequently delivered to prime contractor Lockheed-Martin’s Manassas, VA facility. J.F. Taylor’s CIGI (v2.0) host processor controls the complete Aechelon Technology pC-NOVA (v2.0) image generator ICD.

The image generator provides five channels of OTW visual or NVG stimulating images and features Aechelon Technology’s pC-NOVA (v2.0) software-based runtime engine for flight training applications and C-RADIANTTM plug-in module for geo-specific, multi-sensor image generation support. The Air Force Research Lab’s NVG Sensor Host (v2.0) will be fully implemented. The image generator features CIGI 2.0 support and the databases will be published from Government-furnished Portable Source Initiative data; the DBGS provided with the image generator will be fully PSI compliant.

Frank Miller, MH-60S Visual System Program Manager, stated, “Aechelon Technology’s pC-NOVA is meeting all of the rigorous system requirements on a purely commodity platform which will eliminate many of the risks associated with life cycle support for low-volume, custom products. Additionally, technology developments driven by commercial markets will enable future low-cost/low-risk technology insertion over the Program life cycle.”

“Delivering scalable software on purely COTS platforms enables us to take advantage of performance, price and reliability trends with no risk or cost to the Program- this is truly a win-win situation,” said John Quinn, CEO, Aechelon Technology.
