Aechelon Technology Announces Award of Image Generator for MH-60S Knighthawk Tactical Operational Flight Trainer

SAN CARLOS, Calif., November 6, 2003 — Aechelon Technology, Inc. announced award of a contract to provide the image generator for the MH-60S Knighthawk TOFT, to be located at NAS North Island, CA. The visual system subcontractor, J.F. Taylor, Inc., awarded the image generator subcontract upon completion of a rigorous requirements demonstration at prime contractor Lockheed-Martin’s Manassas, VA facility. The Aechelon Technology pC-NOVA‘ (v2.0) image generator will be integrated with a CIGI (v2.0) host processor at J.F. Taylor’s Lexington Park, MD facility. Delivery of the complete image generator is scheduled for January 5, 2004.

The image generator will provide five channels of OTW visual or NVG stimulating images and features Aechelon Technology’s pC-NOVA (v2.0) software-based runtime engine for flight training applications and C-RADIANT‘ plug-in module for geo-specific, multi-sensor image generation support. The Air Force Research Lab’s NVG Sensor Host (v2.0) will be fully implemented. The image generator features CIGI 2.0 support and the databases will be published from Government-furnished Portable Source Initiative data; the DBGS to be provided with the image generator will be fully PSI compliant.

Frank Miller, MH-60S Visual System Program Manager, stated, “Aechelon Technology was able to demonstrate most of the features and effects required for this program on a purely commodity platform; it is clear that the remaining features/effects are comfortably accommodated with this platform, and the Program can benefit in life cycle cost and low-cost technology insertion as well.”

“Delivering scalable software on purely COTS platforms enables us to take advantage of performance, price and reliability trends with no risk or cost to the Program- this is truly a win-win situation,” said John Quinn, CEO, Aechelon Technology.
