SAN CARLOS, Calif., October 15, 2003 — Aechelon Technology, Inc. announced final acceptance of the
complete visual system used in MCAS Cherry Point’s AV-8B RNAWST Device 2F150B+ by prime contractor Indra Sistemas S.A., pursuant to US Naval Air Warfare Center Training Systems Division (NAWC-TSD) Contract N61339-02-C-0061.
The visual system features Aechelon Technology’s C-NOVA™ runtime software for
flight training applications and C-RADIANT™ plug-in module for geospecific, multi-sensor image generation. Aechelon Technology’s commercial, off-the-shelf image generator uses a Silicon Graphics® Onyx2® InfiniteReality3™ workstation to drive an eight-channel Link Training and Simulation M2DART out the window display, a simulated NVG helmet-mounted display, and cockpit displays for navigation and maverick FLIRs. All sensors are fully correlated through the use of material-classified multispectral imagery. The image generator renders Aechelon Technology’s US East Coast database,
which includes two primary airfields, five secondary airfields, and seventeen generic airfields, as well as a high-definition target area and four confined-area landing sites within a gaming area of over one million square kilometers. The corresponding materials map and radar database is derived from the visual database multispectral imagery. A US Southwest visual database and correlated materials map was included in the delivery.
This is the third, complete visual system delivered by Aechelon Technology to Indra Sistemas for the AV-8B Harrier RNAWST program, and represents the state of the art in high-performance visual simulation.
