Aechelon Technology Announces Selection of pC-NOVA Image Generator

SAN CARLOS, Calif., October 1, 2005 — Aechelon Technology, Inc. announced today that its pC-NOVATM image generator has been selected for use in the CH-47F Chinook Transportable Flight Proficiency Simulator (TFPS).
The visual system subcontractor, JFTI, Inc., awarded the image generator subcontract upon completion of integration and test of pC-NOVA (v2.5) in the prototype CH-47F TFPS, which features Government-
developed Portable Source Initiative (PSI) datasets and the CIGI (v2.0) interface.

The pC-NOVA (v3.0) image generator to be delivered develops six channels of OTW visual at 1600 x 1200, plus two simulated NVG channels. This image generator has no custom components and features Aechelon Technology’s pC-NOVA (v3.0) software-based runtime engine for flight training applications and C-RADIANTTM plug-in module for geo-specific, multi-sensor image generation support. Air Force Research Lab’s NVG Sensor Host (v2.0) is fully implemented. The image generator also features CIGI 2.0 support, and the databases to be used have been published by the Government from Government-furnished Portable Source Initiative data. All of the Aechelon Technology-specific DBGS software is bundled with the image generator and is fully PSI compliant.

Jon Tonkyro, JFTI’s CH47F TFPS visual system program manager, stated, “Aechelon Technology delivers a fully integrated image generator with most of the required features and effects available upon delivery, thus minimizing risk and building confidence that we can meet a very tight schedule.”

John Quinn, Aechelon Technology’s CEO, said, “By utilizing only commodity components, Aechelon
Technology is able to ride the wave of development in the commodity pc market- each turn of the technology ratchet adds performance/features with no R&D expense to the Program. Anyone interested in transportable simulators needs to experience the CH-47F TFPS- it is truly the future of training.”
