San Francisco, Calif., — September 7, 2012, Aechelon Technology, Inc. announced today that Aero Simulation, Inc. (ASI), has awarded it a contract to provide image generators and databases. The technology will be used on training devices for the U.S. Coast Guard HC-144A Ocean Sentry program at the Aviation Training Center (ATC), in Mobile, Alabama. ASI is the program’s prime contractor responsible for delivering the Operations Flight Trainer (OFT) and supporting subsystems.
Aechelon Technology supplied its pC-NOVA™ v6.0 Image Generators for one Multi-Channel OFT, and one Reconfigurable Flight Training Device (RFTD). Aechelon Technology will also provide high fidelity multi-spectral visual and sensor databases, 3D moving models, and a variety of airfields.
The OFT Image Generator features FAA Level D quality and will be part of a variety of subsystems, including a 6-DOF Motion System, and first-of-its-kind 290 x 60 degree Glass Visual Display System.
The all new HC-144A Ocean Sentry is has been certified by the USCG as its Medium Range Surveillance Maritime Patrol Aircraft. The Ocean Sentry has the capability to perform aerial delivery of search and rescue equipment such as rafts, pumps, and flares, and it can serve as an on-scene commander platform for homeland security missions, since it is outfitted with the IDS Command and Control (C2) System, and the state-of-the-art C4ISR suite of sensors and avionics. The HC-144As modern C4ISR suite, modular cabin, miserly fuel consumption rate, and short field takeoff and landing capability, make it uniquely suited for USCG missions.
