Aechelon Technology Receives Contract from Boeing for P-8A Poseidon Training Programs

ST. LOUIS, Missouri, — January 22, 2009 — Aechelon Technology, Inc. announced today that The Boeing Company has awarded it a contract to provide multiple image generators, database generation systems and databases for trainers for the P-8A Poseidon program. Boeing is the prime contractor for the U.S. Navy P-8A Poseidon program.

The P-8A is a long-range anti-submarine warfare, anti-surface warfare, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance aircraft capable of broad-area, maritime and littoral operations. A next-generation derivative of the 737-800, the P-8A combines superior performance and reliability with an advanced mission system that ensures maximum interoperability in the future battlespace.

Aechelon Technology will supply its pC-NOVA™ v4.6 Image Generators for both the Operational Flight Trainer (OFT) and the sensor Weapons Tactics Trainer (WTT). Aechelon Technology will also provide global databases, moving models, airfields and foreign areas of interest, as well as global Database Generation Systems.

The OFT Image Generator features FAA Level D quality and the WTT features a Multi-Spectral Sensor System Wescam MX-20HD with High Definition Electro Optical and Infra Red sensor channels as well as SLAM-ER missile sensors. The contract has options for additional Image Generators and global multi-spectral database services until 2014 during the Low Rate Initial Production phase.

The P-8A is being developed for the U.S. Navy by a Boeing-led industry team that consists of CFM International, Northrop Grumman, Raytheon, GE Aviation and Spirit AeroSystems./

The U.S. Navy plans to purchase 108 P-8As to replace its fleet of P-3C aircraft. The first aircraft will be delivered for flight test in 2009 and initial operational capability is slated for 2013.
