Marietta GA (USA), South San Francisco CA (USA), Frederiksted (Norway) — 26 November 2024 – Today, Immersive Display Solutions, Inc (IDSI), a leading supplier of high-precision visual displays, announced it has partnered with a world-class team to bring an eye-limited resolution (ELR) dome display, suitable for F-16, F/A-18, F-35 and other fast jet simulation and training applications to the I/ITSEC 2024 show floor. The team partners also include Aechelon Technology, a leader in geo-specific image and data generators with real-time computer graphics software, and Norxe, a leading provider of simulation-grade projectors with pinpoint accurate optics.
The image on the IDSI “ELR” display features seven Norxe 8K projectors that, when blended together using Scalable Display Manager and rendered using Aechelon, produce a scene that is 180 degree FOV X 80 degree VFOV (split 50 degrees above equator and 30 degrees below equator) at eye-limited resolution, or 2 arc-minutes per optical line pair as measured from the pilot’s eye point, with a 240Hz refresh speed. Eye-limited resolution, is the agreed level of detail that the typical human eye can perceive in an image, beyond which increasing the resolution of a display no longer results in a perceived improvement in fidelity.
The addition of the 240Hz high refresh speed on both projectors and image generator allows for improved fidelity and smooth motion for objects or scenes that depend on movement to achieve the training tasks required.
Aechelon Technology has provided their latest Commercial Global Multispectral Database and state-of-the-art pC-Nova Nucleus™ 8-GPU capable Image Generators running at 240hz, a true multi-spectral multi-channel ISR grade compact image generator featuring Multi-GPU NVIDIA® with a dramatically reduced footprint. The Aechelon Nucleus incorporates GPU-based simulation and stimulation of simultaneous OTW, NVG, and other correlated sensors and radars as part of the solution.
Norxe has supplied seven (7) of their new P55 8K n-shift projectors. The P55 is a true solid-state illuminated product featuring the NXL® hybrid light source with optional IR for NVG stimulation. The new Unify™ electronics platform, with a quad DP1.4 interface, supports 8K at up to 240Hz refresh rate. The P55 is long-life and low-maintenance, with the first routine maintenance interval due at 50,000 hours, model dependent. Unify electronics ensures predictable performance over time using CLO (Constant Light Output) and WPT™ (White Point Tracking). The standard 5-year warranty can be extended up to 10 years.
Immersive Display Solutions is the systems integrator for the compact footprint ELR display. IDSI provided display engineering to ensure that the resolution, brightness and contrast meet the high precision specifications of the US Air Force.
